Last week Pete over at Longitudes wrote a beautiful piece about all the Bull-Shit going on in the world today and other things that are full of Bull-Shit. If you haven’t had a chance to read it here is the link A Chimerical Analysis of Contemporary Bullshit.
Instead of writing Pete a comment about how right he is, what a great post it was and to let him know that there are many of us in the world today that can completely relate to his story I decided to pick out a part of his post and post this song as my comment. Pete I hope you like it?
XTC and Iris (Pete’s link) in the same breath. Now there’s a station I’ll listen to. Yeah the “bullshit” thing is an everyday occurrence. Just try to avoid as much as we can.

Thanks for the plug, DCW. It’s very nice of you! Yes, I like “Dear God,” the entire Skylarking album, and XTC in general (one of the few late 70s-80s bands I really admire). Regarding that section in my “bullshit” article… I’m not an atheist. I consider myself an agnostic who has issues with parts of the Bible, yet believes in the best Christian ideas of love, brotherhood, forgiveness, redemption, etc. So I don’t subscribe to Partridge’s “I don’t believe in you” lyric, despite admiring his courage in venting his anger and speaking out. My problem with religion isn’t God, and whether there is or isn’t a God, it’s people who are convinced they know the answers (Protestants, Catholics, Muslims, and atheists alike) then push their beliefs in others’ faces. It’s been a principal cause of war and suffering for 2000 years. Check this song out, it’s kind of how I feel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlaoR5m4L80.
Thanks again, and all the best to you!

Pete I believe this line in the song made me think of it while I was reading your post “Did you make mankind after we made you?”. Like you said here and in your post it’s all about the people that push it. The song you linked is great I enjoyed listening to it.

Great song. The English Settlement re-issue includes it, which is fabulous.
