REM “Everybody Hurts”

“Everybody Hurts

Last week I wrote about the fires that have ravaged the North Bay Counties out here in California. While the fires still are going and almost contained many people lost there homes and businesses. As of today 210,000 acres have burned, 43 people have lost there lives, thousands are still in a evacuation zone and not allowed back into there homes. Per a Cal Fire notice we have almost 10,000 fire fighters from all over the country and from many other countries around the world helping put out the fires. Just a few days ago some arson thought it would be a good idea to start a fire here in our town and the fire department, police and other officials worked super fast to limit it to but a small vegetation fire. This brings me to two things.
The first one was written by my oldest daughter as a thank you. I wish that I had the education to write something like this but I had other things to do back in those days. But to all those almost 10,000 fire fighters in California and all the fire departments of America here is the message:

“Our community has been rattled over the last week. To say that we have been on-edge, fearful and anxious doesn’t even begin to cover the multitude of emotions that are currently being felt in Sonoma and the surrounding counties. There’s devastating fires that are ripping through the landscapes and stealing the homes, business and lives of so many. We, as they say, are the lucky ones. Our home is safe, our neighbors, friends and family are safe. Honestly, the most we can really complain about is the quality of the air… but we are still fearful. Today we had another (although small) fire here, close to my home that was put out within one hour. To say I am thankful for these firemen for protecting us and putting their own lives on the line, does not even begin to cover the gratitude I have nor the recognition they truly deserve. Thank you to all of the firemen/first responders (and their families) who are on the front lines doing what they do best here and all over the country. I wish I could hug and thank each and every one of you personally. Thank You, from the bottom of my heart. ❤️”

Second to all those people out there that have lost homes, businesses and people close to you are not alone. I’m sorry for your loss/losses but you must not give up the fight. There is help out there all around to help you out.

“Everybody Hurts”
When your day is long
And the night
The night is yours alone
When you’re sure you’ve had enough
Of this life
Well hang on
Don’t let yourself go
‘Cause everybody cries
And everybody hurts sometimes

Sometimes everything is wrong
Now it’s time to sing along
When your day is night alone (hold on)
(Hold on) if you feel like letting go (hold on)
If you think you’ve had too much
Of this life
Well, hang on

‘Cause everybody hurts
Take comfort in your friends
Everybody hurts
Don’t throw your hand
Oh, no
Don’t throw your hand
If you feel like you’re alone
No, no, no, you’re not alone

If you’re on your own
In this life
The days and nights are long
When you think you’ve had too much
Of this life
To hang on

Well, everybody hurts sometimes
Everybody cries
And everybody hurts sometimes
And everybody hurts sometimes
So, hold on, hold on
Hold on, hold on
Hold on, hold on
Hold on, hold on

Everybody hurts

You are not alone

  1. That’s a great letter your daughter wrote. Can’t imagine having to undergo what some people have to. We’re much luckier here in the Midwest and East, and it’s good to be reminded of how you Californians are struggling. Best of luck.

    • Thanks Pete. We are thankful that both of our daughters decided to have there shit together and get educations. Here we thought that a earthquake would destroy us out here but instead it just might be fires.
