If you have had the privilege of reading the blog site done by Angie Moon called Crazy On Classic Rock or “The Diversity of Classic Rock” you know that there are young people out there in the world that truly do understand and want to learn about the beginnings of Rock & Roll. When ever Angie posts it is well worth the read. Her detail to the research of each of her posts really shows up when you are reading them. I have learned much in the time that I’ve been reading her posts that I never knew. Some of my favorites are:

Another way that Angie lets us know about her music tastes is by a 1 hour music show that she did and hopefully soon will be doing again. She did the show from University of Limerick student radio station out of Ireland. I was able to listen to it at noon on Wednesdays out here on the West Coast so it made it real easy to listen to. On her last show before taking a winter break she played Tales of Brave Ulysses by Cream. a song that I haven’t heard in years and forgot about how much I loved it. So Angie THANK YOU very much for bringing back the memory of Tales of Brave Ulysses to me. If you would like to listen to her show if or when she comes back on the air I would recommend following her Facebook page. If the show does come back I’m sure she will post something there about it. Angie’s ability to play a wide range of rock music is something to behold.
Tales of Brave Ulysses comes from Cream’s album Disraeli Gears. Recorded at Atlantic Studios in New York City in 1967 and produced by Felix Pappalardi who later was bass player and song writer for the band Mountain. Clocking in at 2:46 Tales of Brave Ulysses is a true Cream classic with that distinctive Eric Clapton guitar, Ginger Baker on drums and Jack Bruce playing bass and the vocals. Almost 3 minutes of pure hard rocking Rock & Roll!!

I bought one of those simple Vinyl, Cassette Tape type turntables that allow you to burn them onto a CD. Cost was around $200.00 bucks. Of course I still have two regular turn tables at my disposal put this one is set up in my garage and makes playing vinyl much easier since my records are there. You’ll enjoy Angie’s blog and there is another young fellow around her age that does music blogs that I’ll feature in the near future. That song for his blog just hasn’t come to me yet but it will.

I bought mine about 5 years ago when there where not that many on the market. Now you can find them with better quality built in to them. I think it was Target where we bought it but had seen it many places before that. Here is a link that is one similar to the one I bought. I wasn’t worried about quality to much since the main stereo system is in the house were the music must sound better then the dirty garage.

If had “On The Road To Freedom” since the late 70’s and have played the shit out of it. Back then Alvin Lee was my favorite guitarist so I bought everything he put out. Here is the link to the post I did way back in the beginning of this blog about the tune.

What I liked about Cream is that even though they were steeped in blues, they didn’t attempt to just be a blues band. It’s rock but it’s really hard to categorize some of their songs and they didn’t really sound like anything else. So, “Ulysses,” “What a Bringdown,” “Blue Condition.” e.g. One of my favorites is Bruce’s “As You Said,” where he plays the cello!

A CB fave all the way. What a great sound these three guys made. It comes together in this one. Eric cuts loose with with some great work and Baker just does his thing. Jack just completes the sound. These guys and this tune never get old. Good one DCW/Yuri

Cream and it’s members are never far from CB’s listening devices. Like your last post, this song has been staple for years. I think the first post CB did was on Cream. Shows you where they sit in my music pile. Again keep pumping these tunes out and I’ll be popping by for your take.
